Business Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager who will be responsible for driving renewable energy asset project opportunities across Southeast Asia. In this role, you will lead end-to-end project origination and greenfield development, manage commercial negotiations, and align projects with financial and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and qualify greenfield renewable asset project opportunities, inclusive of solar PV, BESS and biogas, across target markets in Southeast Asia
- Navigate local regulatory frameworks to secure necessary permits and approvals, including environmental, zoning, and construction
- Determine business and investment structures, conduct business case analysis, and manage internal approval processes
- Lead the preparation and coordination of project and tender deliverables
- Lead Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations with corporate off-takers and state utilities
- Identify, onboard, and manage local co-developers and joint-venture partners for greenfield project identification and development
- Identify new renewable energy asset opportunities to expand the business portfolio
- Foster relationships with regional energy ministries, regulators, and government bodies
- Collaborate with financial modelling teams to ensure projects meet required financial return targets
- Prepare and present investment memos to the management team for project funding approval
- Monitor and analyse relevant energy market trends, risks, and value drivers
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the energy or renewable energy sector, with a focus on business development
- Demonstrated track record of successfully developing and executing utility-scale renewable energy projects
- Proven experience closing greenfield cross-border deals across diverse business environments in Southeast Asia
- Strong familiarity with key project contracts including PPAs, Equipment Lease Agreements, and Joint Development Agreements (JDAs)
- Ability to interpret financial models and understand project finance structures and tariff drivers
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across government, regulatory, and private sector counterparts
- Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia
