June 2022 – October 2022

Was reading Civil Engineering at Nayang Technological University (NTU), Year 1

I had interned for 6 months in 2022 in Citadel Search where , I worked as a Digital Marketing and Recruitment Intern.

Cindy, my Managing Director and mentor, showed me the ropes in HR and marketing. I am super proud of helping our LinkedIn page hit 40,000 followers and placing a candidate in his dream job. What was particularly interesting was that this candidate had always wanted to join our client organisation and we facilitated him to achieve his dream and make his dream become a reality! This was most fulfilling for me!

I also learnt a lot on how to communicate more effectively and adapt to new situations, all while whilst keeping things professional. Cindy was always there to help when I needed it.

Hanging out with team, whether we were working on something or just having lunch together, was smoething I look forward too as well. Our conversations at lunch time was authentic and we can share about political affairs to cultural nuances. I even shared about Indonesian culture with my team !

I’m really going to miss everyone, and I totally recommend Citadel Search to anyone who’s thinking about joining as an intern or full-time!

The internship at Citadel Search was a challenging but fulfilling and rewarding time! As it was my first executive search firm experience, there was much to learn and Cindy was nurturing and patient in teaching me the ropes. These helped to successfully close roles eventually and developed my confidence too.

The competency-based interviews and STAR methods I had learnt was extremely insightful and still remain useful skills today which will continue to serve me even after my internship.

All in all, it was truly an eye-opening experience and the internship has certainly developed my talent acquisition and professional skills which are extremely useful for soon to be graduates!

Step out of your comfort zone for a hands-on and rewarding learning experience with Citadel Search and you will definitely learn plenty!

April 2023 to August 2023

Was reading Masters in Translation in Nanyang Technology University, Year 1

I joined Citadel Search in April 2023 as a Talent Acquisition Intern. During this 4-month internship, I am responsible for two main areas of work, Talent Acquisition and Marketing & Translation.

My talent acquisition responsibilities include sourcing and screening talent for clients in Singapore and Mainland China, focusing on corporate function roles (finance, HR and IT support) for MNCs and engineering roles for semiconductor companies. During the internship at Citadel Search, I successfully placed 2 positions, a Senior Global Reporting Manager for a SaaS client and an IT Support Engineer for a professional services company.

I also supported marketing where I had to develop collaterals and translated English materials into simplified Chinese for our marketing promotional materials including slide decks. In addition, I also developed 3 company content specific for educating our candidates from English into simplified Chinese. It was really fun as I learnt and gained so much content too.

Citadel 7-Step Methodology is really a useful tool to help me become robust when confronted with roles I was unfamiliar with. My Mentor Cindy also taught me how to identify core competencies for each role, conduct competency-based interviews, screen candidates professionally, develop detailed screening reports, and strive for a win-win-win outcome with candidates and clients. I believe these valuable takeaways will be very helpful in my future career.

In addition, as a foreigner working in Singapore, I really appreciate Cindy’s kind introduction to great food, good places to go on weekends, and other local history and culture. Cindy and Raymond have also taken us out jogging or sightseeing after work. Also, the team atmosphere is friendly and inspiring. The journey at Citadel Search for me, brings such great and wonderful memories!

Embarking on my journey as an intern at Citadel Search has been nothing short of extraordinary! While waiting for my studies in Civil Engineering at Imperial College London, I decided to step into the dynamic world of digital marketing and recruitment to work on my soft and hard skills.

My days consisted of applying Citadel Search’s renowned 7-Step Methodology to unearth top-tier candidates for leading firms in Singapore. Sitting in interviews with CFOs, HR Directors, Business Development Managers, and Engineers across six diverse industries was an eye-opening experience that broadened my horizons.

I also delved into the world of digital marketing, immersing myself in comprehensive market research to gain valuable insights into job markets. After which I got to compile my learnings into meaningful marketing content, elevating Citadel Search’s brand presence as a distinguished Executive Search firm.

What set my experience apart from others was the chance to directly impact a Big 4 Audit firm ‘s aggressive hiring for various positions which we closed and aiding a Medical Device company in securing a visionary HR Director for their new factory.

I am thankful for the chance to hone my communication, stakeholder management, and time management skills in this dynamic corporate environment. These invaluable skills will undoubtedly serve as an unshakable foundation for my future in engineering.

My internship at Citadel Search proved to be an important stepping stone for my career in recruitment. Was reading Business Administration in National University of Singapore (NUS), Year 4

My internship experience was a unique one with the best of both worlds – recruitment and marketing! I was able to explore a wide range of challenging projects, which allowed me to develop my hard and soft skills including SEO marketing, effective verbal and written communication and critical thinking. I was involved in various interesting marketing projects from market research, competitive analysis, mystery shopping and even revamping a new website!

What makes my experience at Citadel Search meaningful and memorable were the opportunities to have first-hand experience conducting competency-based interviews with senior-level professionals and conducting a re-branding of our brand’s positioning and developing engaging marketing content.

Goh Chin Ray

March 2024 – July 2024

Was reading Chemistry & Management at Imperial College London, Year 1

I interned at Citadel Search for four months, from March to July 2024. During this time, I worked on multiple projects ranging from Business Development to Human Resources to Digital Marketing. These projects helped me gain numerous skills and have further shaped my future career aspirations.

Cindy, my Managing Director, was a great mentor who introduced me to hiring processes, which I previously knew nothing about. The exposure to building connections and interacting with people from various industries and job roles enabled me to gain a better understanding of the career opportunities available and helped me refine my career aspirations. This experience led me to be involved in six projects, profile 20 candidates, and work with MNCs from three different industries. I also think recruitment skills are a necessary life skill to be able to select people to be on my team in the future.

Cindy also provided constructive advice and direction to improve my digital marketing skills. One of the main skills I picked up during my internship was Search Engine Optimization (SEO), which involves optimising websites to rank higher in search engine results, thereby increasing organic traffic. Using industry-leading SEO tools, I tracked over 300 keywords and helped the company rank at the top of Google for 10 keywords. Hence, I was very happy to be exposed to such top-end SEO tools to analyse our digital performance.

Beyond corporate lessons, I received a lot of life advice from Cindy and Raymond, the Senior Manager at Citadel Search. They helped shape my future directions and enabled me to become a better person through our lunch breaks and small chats along the way.

I highly recommend signing up for the Citadel Search internship. Regardless of the role, you will undoubtedly take away many valuable lessons during your tenure here.

January 2024 – July 2024

Was reading Business Management & Economics at Singapore Management University (SMU), Year 1

My internship experience at Citadel Search has been nothing short of unforgettable! Before beginning my university studies, I decided to immerse myself in the exciting world of recruitment as a Digital Marketing & HR intern.

Over the 7 months of my internship from Jan 2024, I was able to get my hands dirty with both headhunting and digital marketing. I had the privilege of shadowing and learning from my Managing Director, Cindy. Her unwavering guidance allowed me to quickly adapt to a corporate environment, that was otherwise totally unfamiliar to me.

On the recruitment side, I was able to gain hands-on experience understanding and supporting executive search mandates for over 10 roles across 6 industries. Utilising Citadel Search’s 7-Step Methodology, I synthesised the intricacies of each role, then learnt how the rigour of our competency-based interview questions were used to assess potential candidates skills and abilities. With Cindy’s expert advice and mentorship, I was instrumental in facilitating the success of closing 5 positions.

As for Digital Marketing, I employed the skills from my arts background to develop monthly social media plans. By understanding the attention economy of our target audience, I was able to bring our LinkedIn follower count to 45,000 by end-June 2024.

What was most rewarding about my time at Citadel Search was hearing the real-life impact of our work. From speaking to candidates about their career aspirations to hearing their joy at successful placements, I truly appreciated our positive influence on our clients and candidates.

I highly encourage anyone interested in recruitment, or even just gaining a hands-on internship experience, to join Citadel Search! The team is incredibly warm and welcoming. You are sure to feel at home here, and walk away having learnt a lot!

January 2024 – May 2024

Was reading Computer Science at National University of Singapore (NUS), Year 1

Interning for Citadel Search was the best decision I made while waiting for university to start. This 5-month adventure into the executive search and recruitment industry has exceeded my expectations and left me with novel experiences and life-long lessons.

As a Data Management Intern, my job mainly consisted of managing the huge database of candidates for the company. This includes the extraction, transformation, and loading of information into the database, as well as cleaning up existing data and converting them into a presentable format.

Additionally, using the 7-Step CITADEL Methodology, I came to understand the entire process of executive search. With this in mind, I brainstormed ideas and handled projects to automate parts of the process. Using top AI systems, I improved the company’s efficiency and effectiveness in matching candidates with our clients.

I even had the chance to interact and sit in interviews with exceptional candidates from companies of various industries, pushing me out of my comfort zone and broadening my horizons.

Not only did I sharpen my technical skills such as programming methodology and the various programming languages such as Python and Javascript, but I also honed my soft skills such as communication and the ability to think on the spot.

I am extremely grateful to Cindy and Raymond for providing me with this invaluable opportunity and for creating a conducive environment for me to learn and grow. They were also keen on sharing their own experiences and tips in the corporate world, leaving me with valuable lessons that I would never forget.

I strongly recommend joining the Citadel Search family if you are looking for a fulfilling and eye-opening internship experience.
